US - CLIMATE - BRAZIL UN PLEDGE
US, New York: Brazil's President Dilma Rousseff promised big cuts in greenhouse gas emissions by 2025, at UN talks on September 27, 2015. Using 2005 as the baseline level, the reduction target will be 37 percent over the next decade and 43 percent by 2030, she said at a United Nations meeting in New York. The talks come ahead of a key climate conference in Paris at the end of November, and Brazil's ambitious promises may pressure other countries to follow suit.
