POLAND, Bydgoszcz: Protesters are cheerful in Bydgoszcz, Poland on January 9, 2016, as thousands rally across the country in opposition of a new Polish media law. The legislation in question gives the government the power to appoint heads of public television and radio, which opponents fear will allow the government to restrict the freedom of the press, and in turn, democracy itself.
