Kiwi Crossing
A Kiwi Crossing sign near Boundary Stream Reserve, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. The return of kiwi to the Boundary Stream reserve is a star turn. Under the management of Department of Conservation rangers and staff and scores of volunteers have reintroduced young kiwi birds sourced as eggs from nearby Kaweka Forest Park and raised at Rotorua's Rainbow Springs, the area is now a forest island home to 23 brown kiwi, 80 north island robins, and the start of a kokako population.
