Memorial to Willy Brandt
This monument commemorates the visit of the German Chancellor in Poland in December 1970. Willy Brandt knelt on the steps of the Ghetto Heroes Monument and expressed his deep sorrow for the crimes and atrocities committed by the Germans against the Poles and the Jewish people. The monument stands in Warsaw’s borough of Muranow, in the heart of the old Jewish quarter, which became a part of the Warsaw Ghetto in 1940.
