Saint Michael Golden Screen Icon Ancient Basilica Saint Michael Monastery Cathedral Kiev Ukraine. Saint Michael's is a functioning Greek Orthordox Monasatery in Kiev. The original monastery was created in the 1100s but was destroyed by the Soviet Union in the 1930s. St. Michaels was reconstructed after Ukrainian independencein 1991 and reopened in 1999.
