Gneiss, Dolerite and Granite
At the right of this image there is a band of blueish grey gneiss. This has been cross-cut by a band of pink granite. Underneath the gneiss is a large section of black dolerite which has cross-cut the gneiss. In the middle and bottom we see pink granite which has intruded into the dolerite. This image was taken on the A894 road, in North West Scotland, between Laxford Bridge and Rhiconich. The vertical channels have been created during blasting in the construction process of a nearly road.
