FRANCE, Strasbourg: Veteran Russian human rights defender Ludmilla Alexeeva cries at the the Palais de l'Europe in Strasbourg, on the opening day of the autumn plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), on September 29, 2015, as the V�clav Havel Human Rights Prize 2015 is awarded to her. Alexeeva, born in 1927, was a founding member of the Moscow Helsinki Group. She emigrated to the US in 1977 and returned to Russia in 1989, where she became President of the International Helsinki Foundation and later joined the Russian President's Commission on Human Rights.
