USA - OREGON - SIEGE
USA, Burns: A man stands in the cold in Burns, Oregon on January 4, 2016, as he and other armed militiamen continue their occupation of a federal building at the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. Members of the militia say their motives lie in the unfair treatment of Dwight and Steven Hammond, who have been sentenced to five years in prison for burning roughly 130 acres of land in 2001. Prosecutors have accused the Hammonds of burning the land in an attempt to cover up evidence of illegal deer poaching; protesters claim the government has no right to punish the Hammonds for the use of their land.
