ROME - ITALY - PROTEST - SME-SEX UNION - PROTEST - LGBT
ITALY, Rome: Thousands of Italians gather in Rome's Circus Maximus arena on January 30, 2016 to protest against a civil unions bill for same-sex couples. The rally's organizers framed the protest as a 'family day' celebration in support of traditional marriage and has been backed by some members of the Catholic church. Lawmakers will vote next week on proposals that will allow gay couples with civil unions, and unmarried heterosexual couples, the same rights as they would have under marriage. Italy is the only nation in Western Europe that does not recognize same sex civil unions or gay marriage.
