Sandstone sculptures of God and lions are carved prominently as a idols in the ancient kanchi kailasanathar temple in kancheepuram
The Kanchi Kailasanathar temple located in Kancheepuram is one of the oldest structure built by Narasimhavarman-II in 700AD. This is the Hindu temple built in Tamil architectural style of Pallava architecture. The sandstone compound contains many sculpture carvings mainly half animal deities and 58 small shrines which is dedicated to lord shiva.
