Like Agde, Mèze was founded by the Phocaeans in the 6th century BC. J.-C .. Successively refuge, counter and residence, the city knew a good number of occupations: Greek, Roman, taken by the troops of Simon de Monfort, direction by the bishop of Agde, until the Revolution French.
