Statue Eloy Alfaro in Havana. José Eloy Alfaro Delgado, born June 25, 1842 in Montecristi and died January 28, 1912 in San Francisco de Quito, is a soldier, guerrilla and Ecuadorian statesman. He was the main ruler of Ecuador from 1895 to 1911, during the Ecuadorian Liberal Revolution.
